About Our Seeds Always Non-GMO / Untreated. Stored in a temperature-controlled facility that's free of moisture. Always packaged for the current and the following growing seasons. True to the variety advertised. 99% pure seed with no added fillers. Seed Needs never knowingly purchases treated seeds products. We also do not treat any of our seed products with substances such as neonicotinoid or thyram. Always fresh and intended for the current and following growing seasons. Heirlooms are varieties that have been purposely bred, selected, and passed down from generation to generation. They are wholesome picks that will breed true to the parent seed every time. Flowers will attract all sorts of beneficial insects to the garden, such as butterflies, bumblebees, honeybees, and ladybugs.
Our Sunflower Sunset Blend is a captivating mix of seven varieties of sunflowers that will add height, color, and texture to its surroundings. This blend contains rustic shades of red, orange, yellow, and even bi-colors, making it a bold addition to any garden. These annual flowers can reach heights of up to eight feet tall! By using this blend, you are also helping the environment as these striking blooms attract many pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Not only can this blend be used outdoors in your garden, but they make perfect cut flowers too! So, bring some vibrant hues into your home for both yourself and the helpful pollinators to enjoy throughout the season.
Grown as an annual flowering plant, sunflowers will bloom through the summer months and later wilt with the first frost. The flower heads can be stored, and the seeds can be gathered for the following season if the birds and squirrels don't get to them!

Sowing The Seed Sunflowers are not particularly fond of being transplanted, but if started indoors, sow in peat pots, 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last frost. Sow at a depth of 1" under topsoil. Transplant entire pots into the garden or direct sow when the weather is warm, and all danger of frost has passed. Stakes may be necessary to support your Sunflowers, only until the stems become strong enough to stand on their own.
Growing Conditions Sunflowers grow long taproots and may rot if the roots become waterlogged. It is recommended to check your sowing area for hard, compacted soil prior to sowing. Renew any hard, compacted soil with a mixture of compost. Sunflowers will enjoy an area of full sunlight for the majority of the day and should be watered daily so that the soil is kept moist until germination has occurred.
Germination & Growth Your Sunflower seeds will begin to germinate within 7 to 10 days after sowing. The plants will grow to a mature height of 4' to 7' feet tall (or more) and can be spaced about 6 to 12 inches apart from one another. Sunflowers are annual flowering plants that come in all sorts of rustic colors of yellow, red, orange, and burgundy.
